Chiang Wan-fu, the present Director-General, was previously the supervisor of the Department of Water Protection, Environmental Protection Administration, Executive Yuan.
He was born in Chiayi County , Taiwan , and possesses a Master of Science from the Chinese Culture University 's Ocean Research Institute . At present he is studying for his PHD at the National Yunlin University of Science & Technology
Taichung County , alongside Taipei County , Kaohsiung County and Tauyuang County , is one of Taiwan 's major industrial counties. In recent years, the population, the number of automobiles and motorcycles and the number of factories have increased rapidly, highlighting the importance of environmental quality to people throughout the county. Therefore, it is important to balance environmental protection and economic development, and consider sustainable operations while undertaking major development projects.
In addition to encourage our staff to maintain the excellent results of our environmental protection policies, we are also strictly on guard against activities that damage environmental quality, such as illegal discharge and dumping. We have also expanded the function of the environmental pollution reporting center and established inspection teams in mountain districts, coastal and urban districts ( 山、海、屯區 ) respectively to enhance the mobility and create convenience to the public. As for the establishment of regional landfill, total pollution control in harbor areas, handling of industrial waste, expansion of recycling, and building of urban sewerage and drainage systems, we will propose concrete plans within this fiscal year and fight for subsidies from the central government.
Wan-fu believes that environmental protection is an overall and constant task. Therefore, in addition to our staff, it is expected that local people from Taichung County can protect our environment together, creating a “clean, green, and natural” living environment.
